Foreign Minister's meeting with Ugandan Vice President: Bangladesh Uganda relations to grow

Foreign Minister Dr.Dipu Minu held a meeting with the visiting Ugandan Vice President Prof. Gilbert Balibaseka Bukenya at the State Guest House Meghna this afternoon.

Speaking to the reporters after the meeting the Foreign Minister said: We discussed the total gamut of bilateral relations between the two friendly countries. Many commonalities exist between us. We have similar problems of poverty, shortage of food and nutrition etc. Similar effort might be made to address those issues. Bangladeshi NGO BRAC has been working there for alleviating poverty and extension of education. It has already created a very positive image of Bangladesh in that region of the globe. Moreover, our peacekeepers have attained popularity in the continent.

Dr.Dipu Moni said initiatives would be taken to further strengthen and deepen the existing bilateral relations between Bangladesh and Uganda.

The High Commissioner of Uganda to Bangladesh,who is based in New Delhi, Ms.Nimisha J. Madhvani was also present during the meeting.
