I
thank the organizers of the Corporate Bazaar -- Global
On-line Services Ltd. -- for their timely initiative
in organizing this event. It is heartening to see
companies from a wide range of industries represented
here, beginning with banks, IT, telecommunication,
security services, airlines, hospitals and multi-national
companies operating in Bangladesh.
As
soon as someone mentions the word Bazaar, we get the
image of a place where sellers have gathered with
their produce. This imagery is all too applicable
here as well -- except that most companies participating
at this Corporate Bazaar are selling services. I hope
this is the beginning of a new trend that grows bigger
with time.
To me, the Corporate Bazaar is also a reflection of
the maturity of the country's economy and that of
its business houses. It provides the space for the
corporate sector to interact and exchange information
and ideas. It would no doubt encourage local businesses
to learn, innovate and grow as they become aware of
new opportunities through their interactions here.
I
hope the Corporate Bazaar becomes an annual event,
attracting wide international participation in future.
Local and foreign exhibitors would then be able to
take advantage of new business opportunities, which
will help our economy grow.
This
being the first corporate showcase in Bangladesh,
it is imperative for everyone involved to try and
make it a resounding success. The organizers have
taken a pioneering step in forging sustainable business
relationships in Bangladesh through this event. I
wish you all good luck and grand success.
With
these words, I have great pleasure in inaugurating
the Corporate Bazaar.
